Ray of Light Youth mentoring CIC
Why We Set Up a CIC
We created our Community Interest Company (CIC) alongside our youth mentoring business to make sure no young person is left behind. While our paid services support many families, we know there are young people who desperately need mentoring and life coaching but can’t afford it — and don’t meet the criteria for traditional funding. The CIC allows us to offer free, tailored support to those most in need, helping us reach more young people and make a bigger impact where it really matters.
Positive transformations
At Ray of Light CIC, we believe real change happens when young people feel truly seen and supported. Our mentoring and life coaching aren’t one-size-fits-all — we take the time to understand each individual and tailor our support to their unique strengths, struggles, and goals. It’s not about ticking boxes — it’s about creating a space where young people can grow in confidence, find direction, and begin to believe in themselves again.
The inspiration behind our CIC
Our CIC was born out of a deep belief that every young person deserves someone in their corner — someone who listens, encourages, and helps them believe in themselves. Through our work in youth mentoring, we kept meeting incredible young people facing big challenges but with no access to support, simply because they couldn’t afford it or didn’t tick the right funding boxes.
It didn’t sit right with us. So we set up the CIC to bridge that gap — to create a space where those young people could still be seen, heard, and supported. Our inspiration comes from them: the ones slipping through the cracks, the ones trying their best with very little, the ones who just need a chance. This is for them.
What sets us apart
At Ray of Light CIC, we’re not about jargon or judgment — just genuine connection. Our mentor is real, relatable, and down-to-earth, with a gift for reaching young people others often find “hard to engage.” Whether they’re struggling to open up, feeling lost, or just need someone who truly gets it, we create a safe, calm space where they can be themselves.
What makes us different is that it works. We build trust, not pressure. We focus on small, consistent steps that lead to big changes. And we treat every young person as exactly that — a person, not a problem.
How we are funded - and how you can help
As a CIC, we rely on grants, donations, and community support to offer free mentoring and life coaching to young people who need it most. Many of the young people we work with aren’t eligible for traditional funding and couldn’t access this kind of support without us.
Every contribution — whether from a local business, a funder, or a kind individual — helps us reach more young people, remove barriers, and create real, lasting change.
If you’d like to support our work or explore a funding partnership, we’d love to hear from you.
Together, we can make sure no young person misses out on the support they deserve.
Our Impact
Ray of Light CIC may be new, but the difference we’ve already seen in young people’s lives is real and lasting.
So far, we’ve supported around twenty young people through free or part-funded mentoring and life coaching — young people who wouldn’t otherwise have been able to access this kind of support. Some were struggling with anxiety, low self-esteem, school refusal, or challenging home situations. Others just needed a calm, consistent adult who believed in them.
We’ve seen children open up for the first time, begin to manage their emotions more positively, re-engage with school, and start to rebuild their confidence — all in a space where they felt safe, accepted, and understood.
While our reach is just beginning, the ripple effect is already there — in the relieved voices of parents, in the trust we’re building with schools and professionals, and most importantly, in the quiet but powerful shifts we see in the young people themselves.
We’re proud of what we’ve started — and excited about how many more lives we can reach with the right support.
Get Involved
There are lots of ways to support what we do — whether you’re a professional working with young people, a parent looking for help, or someone who simply wants to make a difference.
Refer a Young Person
If you know a young person who would benefit from mentoring or life coaching but wouldn’t usually be able to access it, we may be able to help through our CIC. We work with schools, care settings, professionals, and families to offer free or part-funded support to those most in need.
We often support young people experiencing anxiety, school struggles, low confidence, care experience, or difficult home circumstances — especially those who fall through the gaps in mainstream services.
All enquiries are handled with care, confidentiality, and zero judgment.
